Last weekend we took a trip up to Schaumburg to go shopping and just hang out. We were actually planning on going to Galena for a more peaceful, less busy weekend away but we had to go up to Joliet so Aaron could pick up his new car!!! I'll write about that in another post. Anyway, we picked up the car so we were driving separately from Joliet to Schaumburg which was frustrating. Its always so busy up that way and people flying by all around you. I wasn't very familiar with where we would exit and such so I was a little nervous. I had the GPS and Aaron was following me so that added more to try and pay attention to. To add to that it was dumping rain I could hardly see in front of me. Then, the GPS lady would tell me to exit soon so I would have to try and cross 3 or 4 lanes of traffic and make sure Aaron saw where I was going. We made sure when we left our house we had change for the tolls but when he got the car we forgot to have him take some of the change. So, when we got up to the toll window I had to tell the lady I was paying for the guy in the blue car since he didn't have any money. Aaron said when he pulled up to the window the lady said I told her to tell him I loved him...HaHa..I didn't tell her that. Can you believe tolls are now $1.90? That is crazy ridiculous. Plus, what is up with the 90 cents? Why not make it in quarter intervals either 1.75 or 2.00. If there isn't an attendant there then you have to have the exact change which is annoying.
Once we got to the hotel it was dumping snow and we decided we didn't want to travel out again so we ordered a pizza. We ordered Lou Malnati's and it was pretty good. Mine was a little too tomatoey but still good.
On Saturday we got up and went to Woodfield Mall and wandered around for a while. I got a mani/pedi (blue color) some new jeans and popcorn! The cool thing was when I booked the hotel I signed up for the shopping package. Which meant we got free full breakfasts at the hotel and a $50 gift card for the mall. Well when we checked in they gave us 2 $50 gift cards so they paid for us to shop on Saturday! That was pretty cool! For dinner that night we went to The Cheesecake factory which was VERY good. I had never been there before and people from church kept saying it was so good. We figured we would give it a try and we both really liked it! The menu was huge and their portions were huge. For desert I had an ultimate brownie sundae and it was the best one I have ever had!
Sunday we got up and checked out and went to P.F. Changs for lunch! That was good too! I really wish they would get one of those down around here. We definitely need some restaurants in the Washington area...we are maxed out on fast food places.
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency. The room was really nice and we had a view of the busy road in front which we liked!
It was good much to fast weekend. We wanted to get away another time before we got a call about a placement for a child. We're still hoping and praying we'll get that call someday soon.
Below is a picture of the room we stayed in. I really loved the sink in the bathroom.
Have a good weekend everybody!
